Glovelettes

Gauge: 4 stitches and 5 rows to an inch I used Filitaly “Baba" (a beautiful baby alpaca blend with sequins for sparkle) and n. 5 USA / 3.5mm straight needles Worked in this yarn, the glovelettes are very stretchy and one size fits all up to Ladies' large If you choose a diferent yarn, measure your hand then check gauge and stretch before proceeding. These glovelettes are worked flat "top down" on straight or circular needles and have a thumb gusset. Cast on 28 stitches (Il used the German long tail, but any stretchy cast on will do). Work 10 rows in 2x2 ribbing, as follows: Row 1 and all following rows: K2 P2 to end of row Row 11: (right side) at the beginning of the row, use the cable method to cast on 12 stitches. These stitches will form the top of the thumb gusset. Now, knit row 11 (40 stitches) Row 12: purl We are ready to shape the thumb gusset: Row 13: skp k8 k2tog, k28 (2 stitches decreased) Row 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24 purl to end of row Row 15: skp k6 k2tog, k 28 Row 17: skp k4 k2tog, k 28 Row 19: skp k2 k2tog, k 28 Row 21: skp, k2tog, k 28 Row 23: skp, k2tog, k to end of row (28 stitches) Row 25, 27: k Row 26, 28: p Work 12 rows (or more if you want a longer wrist cuff) of 2x2 ribbing When the wrist cuff is the desired length, bind off all stitches in ribbing pattern. Fold glovelette in half lengthwise and use the method you prefer to sew the side seam. After seaming, tack the front and back together at the inner edge of the thumb gusset to form the opening for the thumb. Steam or block to size.
