This is a fun pattern to knit with hand painted yarn, as the color variations show up very well across the open, lacey pattern. The interesting stitchwork creates an elegant scarf, enhanced by the beautiful sheen of silk and softness of cashmere. Skill Level 2: Adventurous Beginner/Intermediate. Abbreviations:
KKnit PPurl YO Yarn Over S/R Short row, in other words, turn the work and reverse direction of knitting. Please Note - the short rows in this pattern do not use wrapped stitches, just turning and knitting back. S/R 2 times Turn work, knit 3, turn work, knit 3 Wrap Wrap the yarn completely around the needle, bringing it over the right needle and back to the front of the work Cast 0n 36 stitches. Knit 6 rows, which willcreate 3 garter ridges. These 6 rows will prevent rolling on the scarf end.
Loopy Twist Pattern:
Row 1 - K 3, S/R 2 times, Wrap 3 time while knitting each of next 30 stitches, K 3, S/R 2 times Row 2 - K 3, \*slip each of the next 6 stitches knit wise to the right needle, dropping the 2 additional wraps. (the slipped stitches will be very large) Pass the first 3 stitch loops slipped over the last 3 stitch loops with the left needle, keeping them on the left needle. Slip the remaining 3 loops on the right needle to the left needle, all at once. You have now crossed the loops in an “X" configuration. Knit the 6 loopy stitches, taking care not to twist them while knitting.\* Repeat from \* to \* an additional 4 times, K 3. Rows 3 through 6 - Knit Repeat the 6-row pattern 42 times, or until the scarf is the desired length, making sure to reserve at least 6-8 yards of the yarn for the edge and bind-off. Knit 4 rows (2 garter ridges), creating another non-rolling edge. Bind off all stitches.
Finishing:
