Gauge

Novelty Yarn - about 11 sts x 15 rows to 4in/10cm DK Yarn - about 22 stitches to 4 inches. Rows aren't so important, but my gauge was about 8 rows to an inch. This is a really tight knit, but it ends up very soft and warm :D With the DK yarn being twice as many stitches to an inch as the novelty yarn, it gives the cuff a bit of a ruffled look.

Note about novelty yarn

The novelty yarn I used has a little section of loops every 8 inches or so. When knitting in stocking stitch, when you get to the loopy section, if you're on a RS row, you purl one or two stitches to keep the loops at the front, or knit the stitches on a wrong side row. Instructions are to fit a medium sized female hand. It's easy to adjust the numbers to make it a little bigger or a little smaller. ip the first stitch of every row (purlwise) to make it easier to seam at the en Cast on 44 stitches with 9.o0mm needles and novelty yarn. Knit 5 rows of stocking stitch, beginning with a wrong side (purl) row, ending with a purl row. Switch to 4.oomm needles and DK yarn. Knit 24 rows in stocking stitch (or as many as you need to get to the base of your thumb), ending with a purl row. ShapeThumb Row 1 - K 21, place a stitch marker, inc 1 in the next two sts, place marker, knit 21. Row 2 - P across Row 3 - K to marker, sl marker, inc 1 in next stitch, k to last stitch before marker, inc 1 in last stitch before marker, sl marker, k to end Repeat rows 2 and 3 until there are 16 stitches (or more if you have a bigger thumb) between the markers, making sure to end with a purl row. Next Row - Knit to marker, remove marker, bind off 16 sts (or however many you have), remove 2nd marker, knit to end. Next Row - Purl across, making sure to pull the stitches close at the thumb opening. (42 Sts) Continue in stocking stitch until you get to the length you want - this was 10 rows for me. You can check the size by slipping your thumb into the thumb hole. Bind off. Sew seams using mattress stitch, or however you would like.
