Segmented Bamboo Scarf By Megan Curtis
My husband is a night security guard. One night he came home and placed a request for a knitted scarf for one of his employees. It had to be red, soft, and masculine. I decided to use a machine washable yarn because he's a bachelor.

Materials: Bernat Softee Chunky, 164 yds/ $100g/$ 3.5oz, $100\%$ acrylic, Berry Red, 2 skeins US 10-1/2 knitting needles Finished measurements: $3{-}3/4^{\circ}{\mathrm{~x~}}64^{\circ}$ , un-stretched Gauge: 14 sts ) $\times\ \ 17\ \mathrm{rows}=4^{\circ}/10\mathrm{cm}$ in stockinette Notes: Mock Cable: K into second st on left needle, leaving st on left needle, k into $1^{\mathrm{st}}$ st and drop both sts. Instructions CO 24 sts. Row1 & 3: sl 1, $\ast1_{\mathrm{K}2}$ $\mathfrak{p}2^{*}$ . Repeat from \* to\* to last three sts, $_{\mathrm{k}2}$ ,sl1 Rows 2, 4, 6: p3, $\ast1_{\mathrm{k}\mathrm{2}}$ $\mathtt{p}2^{*}$ . Repeat from $*_{\mathrm{to}^{*}}$ to last 3 sts, p3 Row 5: sl1, \* Mock Cable, $\mathfrak{p}2^{*}$ . Repeat from \* to\* to last three sts, K2, sl 1 Repeat these 6 rows until scarf measures desired length. Ending with row 4, Bind off all sts. Weave in ends and it's ready to wear!

\*\* Note: This pattern creates a one sided effect. The front has the bamboo look while the back is in a plain rib. If you would like to have both sides with the bamboo pattern, then for Row 6 substitute: p3, \*Mock Cable, $\mathfrak{p}2^{*}$ , Repeat from $*_{\mathrm{to}^{*}}$ to last 3 sts, p3.
