Complete the pattern color repeat rows to the desired height. · The color pattern repeat is A-K. Follow this sequence at each instructed color change. : The sample blanket requires approximately 1650-1700 yards (1510- 1555m) of yarn.
Dimensions/Gauge
· Gauge is not critical to this project. · Sample blanket: 36 in X 48 in (91.5 cm X 122 cm)

Picture Section

Row1: Sc in the second chain from the hook and the next 5 chains, ch 5, sk 2 chains, sc in the next 9 chains, ch 5, sk 2... This is the front of your foundation chain. Notice the two loops that make a "v". You will leave these unworked when working into the foundation chain for Row 1. This shows the back of your foundation chain. The needle is inserted through the back bump in which you will insert your hook. ...then a sc6tog is shown here before the final yarn over. Notice that there are 7 loops on your hook. The sc6tog creates a "valley".

Yarn over and draw through to complete the sc6tog, then ch 5 and sk 2... ...sc in the next 9 stitches, ch 5, sk 2, then sc in the next 4... Work 3 scin the next stitch—this creates the top of your "hill". Then begin working down the "hill" by completing 4 sc in the next 4 chains. Ch 5, sk 2 chains, sc in the next 9 chains.. Ch 5, sk 2 and make another sc6tog (valley)—this is the start of your repeats across. After completing your repeats and reaching the final hill..complete 9 sc in the next chains, ch 5, sk 2... ...then sc in the next 4 and work 2 sc in the last ch. Turn.

Row 2: (Right Side Row) Ch 4 as the first tr of a 2trCl. Then work a tr in the first st as the second tr of a 2trCl.

Ch 3 and make a 3trCl. This shows the first partial tr of the cluster-- (yo, insert hook in specified st, yo, draw through, yo, draw through two, yo, draw through two) Then work a second partial cluster (yo, insert hook in same st, yo, draw through, yo, draw through two, yo, draw through two).. ...then work a third partial cluster. Notice there are four loops on your hook now. Yarn over and draw through all 4 loops to complete the 3trCl. Ch3andworkanother3trClinthe same stitch, followed by a ch 3.

Skip 5 sc and work a sc in the ch-5 loop, then ch 3 again.

Skip 4 sc and work three 3trCl in the next sc, each separated by a ch 3.

At the valley, sc in the first ch-5 loop...

...and then sc in the next ch-5 loop, followed by a ch 3.

Skip 4 sc and complete three 3trCl in the next stitch—again each separated by a ch 3. Sc in the ch-5 sp, ch 3, then sk 5 before working five 3trCl in the next sc—again separated by a ch3 between clusters. This 5-cluster group should arise at the peak of your hill. Take note, both the "uphill" and "downhill" slopes should have 3- cluster groups. The peaks of the "hills" should have 5-cluster groups. Sc in the ch-5 loop on the "downhill" slope, then ch 3 and sk 4 sc.. ...and you are now ready for another 3-cluster group—the one shown is nearly finished. Now at the valley you will be working a sc in each of the ch-5 loops as you begin your repeats across.

When you complete your final valley—work a 3-cluster group "uphill", sc in the ch-5 loop, ch 3, sk5... ...now work (3trCl, ch 3) twice in the last sc, ch 3...

Row3: This entire row is worked with sc. Begin with a sc in the 2trCl. Then 3 in the next ch-sp, then 3 in the cluster, then 3 in the next ch-sp, etc. Continue to the first valley, where you will skip the 2 sc. ...and then a 2trCl in the same st. Notice there are 2 partial tr and 3 loops on the hook. Yarn over and pull through all 3 loops to complete the st. Turn. Note that between clusters on this row you will be working 2 sc in the first ch-sp, then a sc in the sc, and then 2 sc in the next chsp. Take note that the first and last cluster of each 3-cluster and 5- cluster group does NOT have 3 sc worked into it—as shown by the Xs. Skip those.

At the end of Row 3, don't forget to work a sc in both the tr and the turning chain... ...like so. Now you'll have all the sts you need for Row 4. Fasten off and turn your work. With the next color in the sequence, begin with a slip knot on your hook. Working in the back loops only (BLO), insert your hook in the first st.. ...yarn over and draw through the st, then yarn over and complete the sc join.

Row 5: With the next color in the sequence and working in the BLO across, join with a sc of the first st and sc in the next 4, ch 5... Sc down the hill in the next 24 sts. At the valley, complete a sc4tog in the next 4 sts, as shown. Having inserted your hook in each of the next four sts and drawn through a loop each time, you now have 5 loops on your hook. Yarn over and draw through all of them. Work 24 sc up the hill, then complete 3 sc in the next st. Continue in this fashion across to the end. Don't forget to work an extra sc in the last st of the row. Fasten off and turn.

Sk 3 and sc in the next 11, skip 3 again (xs), and work sc7tog at the valley in the numbered sts shown. Notice there are 8 loops on the hook. Yarn over and draw through all of them to complete the sc7tog. Ch 5, sk 3, and work 11 sc up the hill, ch 5, sk 3.. ...and work 11 over the top of the hill, followed by a ch 3. Repeat this across to the final uphill.

Following the 11 sc worked "uphill", ch 5, sk 3 and sc in the last 5 sts. Turn your work and begin Row 6 which is essentially the same as Row 2 with exception of the number of skipped sc throughout.
