Snuggly Crklewarmeru

Knit for my mum, who dislikes her feet and legs being too hot, but gets very cold ankles (I don't ask questions, I just knit).

I highly recommend that you use the long-tail cast-on method (video tutorial here) as it creates a much stretchier cast on edge. Likewise, I recommend this cast-off, for the same reason. If you don't want to go that route, I suggest casting off with a 6/7mm needle.

CO 60st, distribute across three needles and join in the round ROW 1-10: \*K2, P2\* rib to end Here I suggest shifting 5 stitches from needle 2 to needle 1 to make the cable pattern easier to knit. ROW 11: cable pattern, knit to end ROW 12-16: k2, p2, k4, p2, k5, p2, k4, p2, k. K to end Repeat rows 11-16 3 more times (4 cables) ROW 35: cable pattern, knit to end ROW 36-46: \*K2, P2\* rib to end Cast off, sew in ends. Cerys's mum taught her to knit at age seven, in an attempt to stop her wandering the house in the middle of the night. Despite it being Florida in August the ruse worked, and she has been knitting ever since. Cerys teaches knitting, and runs a weekly knitting club in Brighton. In the rest of her time, she plays roller derby for the Brighton Rockers (and knits ice-pack holders, which come in very handy from time to time).
