Pattern Notes:
The square is pictured here with just one colour but it is possible to change colours throughout. For miniature work it is suggested that you fasten off after each round if you are going to change colours, but you may also join the new colour on the last part of the stitch before the colour change.
Pattern:
With any colour: Ch 6. Join with sl st to form ring.
Row1: ch 1, (Does not count as a dc); into ring work 12 dc. Join with sl st to i'st dc. Row 2: ch 6, (Counts as a dtr and a 2ch sp); (1 dtr into next dc, 2ch) 11 times. Join with sl st to 4th ch of beg 6ch. [12 dtr] Row3: sl st into next 2ch sp; into same sp work (ch 3, 1 tr, ch 2, 3 tr); \*(ch 1, 1dc into next 2ch sp) twice; ch 1; \* \* into next 2ch sp work (2 tr, ch 2, 2 tr); rep from \* twice; rep from \* to \*\* once. Join with sl st to 3rd ch of beg 3ch. FO.
Finishing:
If you are making a sampler then weave in all ends except for the final row colour and use this to sew onto adjoining motifs. If you are using this pattern to make a miniature afghan, then you can join-asyou-go on the last round by substituting one of the ch stitches as a dc into the adjoining square. I hope you have fun making this square!
