DIRECTIONS
Work provisional crochet cast-on. Using crochet hook and waste yarn, chain 5 sts. Using 4 mm needle and main yarn pick up and knit 3 sts through the bumps on the reverse side of the crochet chain. Knit 11 rows. Turn work 90 degrees clockwise and pick-up and knit 1 st in each garter st ridge along the edge, picking up a total of 5 sts. Unravel the provisional cast-on. Place the 3 live sts onto the left needle. Knit these 3 sts. 11sts total. \*It is not specified but if you want to keep better track of your pattern you can place markers after/before the garter stitch border and before/after the center stitch.(meaning before and aftertheyarnovers) First stocking stitch section ( 59 sts total at the end of this section) Row 1 (RS): k3 (garter st border), yo,knit to center st, yo, k1,yo, knit to last 3 sts, yo, k3 (garter st border). Row 2 (Ws): k3 (garter st border), purl to last 3 sts, k3 (garter st border). Rows 3-22: Repeat rows 1 and 2 10 times. Row 23 (Rs): k3, yo,knit to center st, yo, k1,yo, knit to last 3 sts, yo, k3. First Lace pattern section ( 79 sts total at the end of this section) Row 24 (WS): Knit. Row 25-32: Work rows 1-8 of lace chart. (The st pattern repeat is framed in purple.) Row 33 (Rs): k3, yo, purl to center st, yo, k1, yo, purl to last 3 sts, yo, k3. Second stocking stitch section ( 119 sts total at the end of this section) Row 34 (WS): k3, purl to last 3 sts, k3. Rows 35-52: Repeat rows 1 and 2 9 times. Row 53: k3, yo,knit to center st, yo, k1, yo, knit to last 3 sts, yo, k3. Second Lace pattern section ( 171 sts total at the end of this section) Row 54 (WS): Knit. Rows 55-78: Work rows 1-24 of lace chart. Row 79: k3, yo, purl to center st, yo, k1, yo, purl to last 3 sts, yo, k3. Third Stocking stitch section ( 251 sts total at the end of this section) Row 80 (WS): k3, purl to last 3 sts, k3. Rows 81-118: Repeat rows 1 and 2 19 times. Row 1119 (RS): k3, yo, knit to center st, yo, k1, yo, knit to last 3 sts, yo, k3. Third Lace pattern section ( 335 sts total at the end of this section) Row 120 (WS): Knit. Rows 121-160: Work rows 1-24 of lace chart and then rows 1-16 once. Row 161 (RS): k3, yo, purl to center st, yo, k1, yo, purl to last 3 sts, yo, k3. Row 162 (WS): k3, purl to last 3 sts, k3.
Picot Edge bind-off
Bind-off (BO) 1 st. Cast on (CO) 6 sts / BO the 6 sts just cast on (first tassel placement). \*BO 3 sts, CO 3 sts / BO the 3 sts just cast on. Repeat from \* to the middle tip of the shawl Work a 6-st picot (middle tassel placement). \*BO 3 sts, CO 3 sts / BO the 3 sts just cast on. Repeat from \* to just before the last st.
