"During the Victorian era, orchid symbolism shifted to luxury, and today this sense of magnificence and artful splendor continues, with orchids representing rare and delicate beauty. olden Orchids is an elegant shawl to wrap around your neck. It's shape is half-circular and it's knitted from the center of neck outwards. The beads on the border adds a little hint of luxury and sparkle. The lace motif in the border chart has a blooming ocrhid motif which was specially designed for this project.

ECHNCAL FORMATDN

· The charts do not include three stitch garter stitch border. · There is no center stitch nor are there increases in the sides of the shawl. But there is a center panel in the body of the shawl. · Work the charts in following order: Knit right side once, knit repeat as many times as instructed, knit left side once. · On wrong side rows knit the first three and the last three stitches and purl all other stitches. · The colored squares in the border chart will help you to see the outlines of the petals, but it's not necessary tosee the colors in order toknit the shawl. It's recommended to separate the center panel by using contrasting stitch markers. · Exact gauge is not important. Do note that a looser gauge will result in the use of more yardage.

Adding beads

You can add the beads using your preferred method, like using a crochet hook. Beads are always placed before working the stitch. Insert a bead on the next stitch and knit it.

Adjusting the size

It's easy to change the size by changing the amount of body chart repeats. You can knit the body chart as many times as you wish. After that continue to transition chart 2. A= Set-up chart 1 and 2 B = Transition chart 1 C = Body chart D = Transition chart 2 and 3 E= Border chart F Center panel

IERUCTDNS

CO 3 sts provisionally using scrap yarn. Knit 11 rows with main yarn. Do not turn the work around but rotate 90 degrees clockwise, pick up and knit 5 sts from the garter stitch edge of the piece, undo provisional cast-on and knit the 3 live sts. (11sts) K3, purl to last 3 sts, k3. Work through the charts in following order: set-up chart 1, set-up chart 2, transition chart 1, body chart, transition chart 2 and border chart. Bind off loosely, wash and block
