Green Cabled Armwarmers by elizabeth martin
These arm warmers are knit in the round. I suggest knitting them both at the same time, using the magic loop method. If you choose to do it this way, just reverse whatever you do for the first mitten for the second. The cable is intentionally twisted in this pattern.
Yarn & notions
Yarn: Fingering weight (sock yarn) in a merino/nylon blend. Sample was knit using 2 balls of Knit Picks Essential Sock (75% superwash merino, 25% nylon) in Grass. Yardage: 375-450 yards (342-412 m). Sample used approximately 265 yards. Cable needle Stitch markers Tapestry needle (for weaving in ends) Waste yarn (for thumb gusset)

20 sts and 28 rows = 4 inches (10 cm) in stockinette 2.75mm (US 2) needles - Use 32-inch circular needles for magic loop or DPN's (double pointed needles)
Size & dimensions
One size fits most. Gloves measure 14 inches from bottom of middle finger to inside of the elbow. Approximately 7 inches measured around the knuckles. St or sts = Stitch or Stitches Rnd = Round K = knit P = purl DPN's = double pointed needles Cbl = Cable C12F = Hold 6 sts to front on cbl needle, k6 sts, k6 sts from cbl needle. C12B = Hold 6 sts to back on cbl needle, k6 sts, k6 sts on cbl needle. Pm = Place marker RS: Right side3 WS: Wrong side

1X1 rib: \*k1, p1\* repeat from \* Stockinette: Knit on RS, Purl on WS Giant braid cable (multiple of 18 sts) Round 1-2: k18 Round 3: K6, C12F Round 4: K18 Round 5-10: Repeat rounds 1-2 3 times Round 11: C12B, k6 Round 12: K18 Round 13-16: Rep rounds 1 and 2 twice Repeat 16 rows for cable pattern NOTE: Instructions given are for on a circular needle using the magic loop method. When I knit these, I did them both at the same time to ensure that both mitts were identical.
Pattem
Using a circular needle or DPN's, CO 56 sts. Pm to mark beginning of the round. Join, being careful not to twist. Work in 1X1 rib for 1 inch or until cuff is desired length.
