Cuff
Cast on 56(64, 72) sts. Place 14(16, 18) stitches on each of 4 DPN's Join to work in the round being careful not to twist. Work in (k2, p2) rib for 8 rounds. Next round: (K2, k2tog, yo) Next round: Knit Next round: (K1, k2tog, yo, k1) Next round: Knit Next round: (K2tog, yo, k2) Next round: Knit Next round: (K1, yo, ssk, k1) Next round: Knit Next round: (K2, yo, ssk) Next round: Knit to last stitch, do not knit last stitch. Slip the last stitch from needle 4 to the beginning of needle 1. This is now the first stitch of the round. Transfer the last stitch from needle 1 onto needle 2, the last stitch from needle 2 onto needle 3 and the last stitch from needle 3 onto needle 4. Next round: (Ssk, k2, yo) Next round: Knit Work k2, p2 ribbing for 7 rounds. Next round (64 stitch size only): (K2, p2) to last 4 sts, k2, p1, slip the last stitch onto the beginning of needle #1. This is now the first stitch of the round. Slip the last stitch on needle 1 onto needle #2, the last stitch from needle 2 onto needle 3 and the last stitch from needle 3 onto needle 4. Next round (56&72 stitch sizes): (K2,p2) to end of round. Knit the first stitch from needle 1 onto needle 4. This is now the end of the round. Transfer the first stitch from needle 2 onto needle 1, the first stitch from needle 3 onto needle 2 and the first stitch from needle 4 onto needle 3. A special note to those who used the 56 and 72 stitch cast on(THIS DOESNOTAPPLYTOTHOSE WHOAREKNITTINGTHE64 STITCH VERSION): My apologies, I realized this week as I checked over the next few clues that I have the 56&72 stitch cuffs with the wrong stitch at the beginning of the round. For those who haven't finished the cuff yet, I have corrected the instructions above. For those of you who have finished the cuff make the following adjustments: You'll need to have your round begin with one knit stitch followed by two purl stitches. Currently you have the round starting with a single purl stitch followed by two knit stitches. To make the adjustment, purl the first stitch on needle 1 and knit the second stitch. Now transfer these two stitches to needle 4. Even out the needles by transferring the first two stitches on needle 2 to needle 1, thefirst two stitches on3 to needle 2 and the first two stitches on needle 4 to needle 3. There should now be 14(18) stitches on each needle. All sizes: Work from the correct leg chart or written instructions for your size. The chart and written instructions will repeat twice around the sock. Work rounds 1-8 five times.
