Holiday Mystery Gifts 7 x 7 SquareS - HORSESHOE CABLE
By Terry Liann Morris - SailingKnitter
Materials
Worsted weight washable yarn US size 7 (4.5mm) needles or size needed to obtain gauge Size: 7" square Gauge: 5 (5.5) sts = 1" over the Horseshoe Cable Pattern Note: because worsted weight yarns vary so much in actual size and our goal is to make a 7" square with a flexible fabric, you can choose the gauge and number of stitches to cast on for your best results.

Tip for Gauge when working cabled designs: Cables will pull in the fabric significantly and differently for each knitter. When knitting cabled projects the best way to determine gauge is to knit a swatch of the total combination of cables and filler stitches. For our square here, simply cast on and knit - wait to measure your square's width until you have knit through the Horseshow Cable Pattern twice. Your initial cast-on and border will be much wider at first but will pull in when you get into the cable. Cast on 32 (36) stitches using the Long-Tail (aka Sling-shot) cast on method
