
Covered in knitted diamonds, the Miranda is a jewel of a hat. Made up of knits and purls, this is a great hat for beginner and intermediate knitters who want to create a hat with one skein, in one weekend. This is the adult version.
Materials:
4mm/US6, 16" circular needles and DPNs Yarn Recommendation: Worsted Weight, 120 yards Stitch Markers Tapestry Needle Gauge: 16 stitches = 4" 1x1 rib; 16 stitches = 3" in Diamond Stitch Finished Circumference: 18" - 20"; stretches to accommodate a 22" head size
Pattern Instructions:
With a circular needle, CO 96 stitches and join, being careful not to twist. Place a stitch marker and knit Ixl ribbing for one inch. From here, begin the diamond stitch pattern (see below) . Repeat the eight rounds of the diamond stitch pattern for a total of four times.

Begin Decrease:
Set-up round: K12 sts,\*pm, k24 sts\*, repeat twice from \*, pm, k12 sts. Leave the original stitch marker to mark beginning of round. (Four stitch markers placed). Next round:\*Knit to two stitches before marker, ssk, sm, kl, ktog\*,repeat3times, kit to end of round. Next round: knit. Repeat these two rounds until 8 stitches remain, switching to DPNs when circular needles are too long to use comfortably. Cut yarn, leaving an 8" tail. With a tapestry needle, weave through remaining live stitches and pulltight. Weave ends into the inside of the hat. Diamond Stitch Round 1: K4, \*pl, k7; rep from \* to last 4 sts, pl, k3. Round 2: K3, \*pl, kl, pl, k5; rep from \* to last 5 sts, pl, kl, pl, k2. Round 3: K2, \*pl, k3; rep from \* to last 2 sts, pl, k1. Round 4: KI, \*pl, k5, pl, ki; rep from \* ending with a pl. Round 5: \*P1, k7, rep from \* to last st. Round 6: Kl, \*pl, k5, pl, kl; rep from \* ending with a pl. Round 7: K2, \*pl, k3; rep from \* to last 2 sts, pl, k1. Round 8: K3, \*pl, kl, pl, k5; rep from \* to last 5 sts, pl, kl, pl, k2.
