MATERIALS

· Blue Sky Sport Weight or Melange (50g/110yds): 1 hank each MC, CC1, and CC2 · Size 3 [3.25 mm] double pointed needles, or size needed to obtain gauge · 3 Stitch markers · Waste yarn Photo Shown: Capuccino #540 (MC), Hibiscus #538 (CC1), and Buttercup #537 (CC2)

PATTERN NOTES

The seam is on the palm so that the changes in the colorwork are hidden. Carry the yarn colors that you are not using up the side of the work as you knit with the next colors. Twist the yarns together at the beginning of the row. Make sure you don't pull the yarn too tightly or leave it too loose as you weave up the side.

Jogless Stripes

To minimize the jog from one color to the next, work a jogless color change as follows: work the first round in the new color. On the following round, slip the beginning of round marker, insert the right needle from back to front into the stitch below the first stitch on the left needle, and slip the stitch onto the left needle. Knit stitch together with the next stitch on the left needle.

CUFF

Cast on 48 sts in MC, place 12 sts on each of 4 ndls. PM and join in the rnd, being careful not to twist sts. Knit for 28 rnds. On rnd 29, begin working the colorwork chart and AT THE SAME TIME create the thumb gusset.

Rnd 29: K12(36), PM, m1R, m1L, PM, k to the end of the rnd. [2 sts between markers] Rnd 30: K12(36), SM, k2, SM, k to the end of the rnd. Rnd 31: K12(36), SM, m1R, k2, m1L, SM, k to the end of the rnd. [4 sts between markers] Rnd 32: K12(36), SM, k4, SM, k to the end of the rmd. Rnd 33: K12(36), SM, m1R, k4, m1L, SM, k to the end of the rnd. [6 sts between markers] Rnd 34: K12(36), SM, k6, SM, k to the end of the rnd. Rnd 35: K12(36), SM, m1R, k6, m1L, SM, k to the end of the rnd. [8 sts between markers] Rnd 36: K12(36), SM, k8, SM, k to the end of the rmd. HAND

Continue to work colorwork chart in St st to end. BO loosely.

THUMB

Slide 14 Thumb sts from waste yarn to 2 dpns. Rejoin yarn, k14 sts on needles, with 3rd needle, pick up and k4 sts at Thumb Gusset [18 sts]. Work even for 5 rnds.

FINISHING

BO all sts and weave in ends. Block.
