With color A and size US 6 (4mm) 32" (81.5cm) circular needles loosely cast on 159 sts. Work rows 1 - 50 of Pattern A. On row 7, pm after each pattern repeat; sm as you knit each row to keep pattern work correct. Note: After row 2, on all even rows (wrong side, with color A): purl all knitted sts and slip (purlwise) all slipped sts from previous row working with same color yarn. Chain 2 sts; sc into every other edge st of right-hand edge. Chain 2 sts; sc into every st along bound-off edge. Break yarn, leaving a $6"$ $\left[15.5\mathrm{cm}\right)$ tail. Weave in ends. Wind yarn around cardboard square loosely. Cut along one edge. Fold 2 strands of yarn in half and with crochet hook pull yarn through and knot through every other st of cast-on and bound-off edges. Color order: 2 strands of color A held together, then one strand of color A held together with color B. Alternate color order. Hand-wash rug in tepid water with mild cleanser. Rinse with cool water. Blot out water (do not twist or stretch rug). Roll up in clean dry towels. Unroll towels and place rug on flat surface, supporting weight of rug. Block to finished measurements. Allow rug to dry completely. Always use a rug backing to protect yarn floats and ensure your safety.
