This cowl is knitted flat and then the ends are joined to form a loop· -To increase/decrease the width of the cowl increase/decrease number of cast on stitches in increments of 27. You can also knit this as a scarf or wrap· Simply cast on and off as usual and don't join the ends!
Pattern for Cowl
- PLEASE read through whole pattern before starting. That way you will understand where what you are doing fits into the scheme of things· (Really good tip for all patterns!) > Cast on 104 sts using a provisional cast on technique: (You can find video tutorials on YouTube or you can just cast on loosely in your favoured technique and sew the ends together when finished). > Using the table below, work from top to bottom, leaving the yarn attached between colours. (lt will hide nicely under the curled edge!) Be careful of your tension on the yarn that has been carried between colours - not too tight, not too loose: > Each ‘block' represents one repeat of Row 1 and Row 2, eg. Wrong side and right side· > Row repeats are as follows - Row 1 (WS) - Purl all stitches Row 2 (RS) - K2, K2tog, \*K16, Kf&b, SM, Kf&b, K6, S2kp, \* (3x), K16, Kf&b, K3 > On your first Row 2 you will be placing your markers instead of slipping them· > Tick off your repeats as you complete them on the work sheet below (you're welcome!) so that you know how many rows of each colour you are doing. > The sample shown is 5 complete repeats (eg· 5 columns) but you can do as many of as few as you would like. > When you have reached the desired length of your cowl, transfer all sts from provisional cast on back to needle (Make sure the point is at the right end for joining!!). > With right sides facing use a three-needle bind off technique to join your ends. (lf you do not want to do this style of joining simply cast on and cast off as normal and sew the ends together by hand. > Use your yarn needle to sew in any loose ends. > Blocking is the finishing touch for this cowl. To block, soak cowl in warm water, squeezing gently to remove all air bubbles· Pop your cowl into the washing machine and put through a spin cycle to remove excess water. (Trust me!) > Spread your cowl out flat on a towel, making sure it is nice and symmetric, allwing the edges to naturally curl under. > Allow to dry completely. > Ta Da! Your cowl is finished!

Work Sheet
> Each block represents both a wrong side and a right side row. A full Row 1 and Row 2 repeat. > Each column consists of a full pattern repeat· > Use as many or as few columns as you like· (The sample uses 5)
