Materials:

1 skein Hazel Knits Artisan Sock Yarn (color Greenlake): each skein will make two pairs of mitts. US size 1 needes, or size needed to obtain gauge Tapestryneedle WasteYarn Gauge: 8 sts and 13 rows per inch in pattern. Abbreviations Used: K2tog: Knit two together PS: Pattern Stitch Notes: These mitts were knit using the magic loop method, but can be knit in which ever method you prefer. The mitts willfit a wide range of hand sizes due to the ribbing. If you feel you need an extra large mitt (say for a man) you can add stitches in multiples of 4. Mitt:

Cast on 56 sts. using long tail method. Join into a round making sure not to twist. K in PS until mitt measures $5\,\%$ " or until length reaches the base of your thumb. Ending on a K2, P2 round. With waste yarn k8, slip same 8 sts. back to left hand needle and pick up working yarn, knit round (you are going to pick out Lullue Ill rs iur / lounus elullig ull d nz, rz rounu. K2tog 4 times, K rest of round (this decrease is to keep the mitt snug to the top of your hand, you can leave it out if you have bigger hands). Continue in PS until mitt measures 6 1/2" or until you reach the bottom of your fingers K in $_{2\times2}$ rib for $1"$ (the ribbing also helps keep the mitt snug on top). K 4 rounds and bind off loosely (this makes the rolled edge).

Thumb:

Pick out waste yarn and plac live stitches on needles (you should have 8 on each of two needles) Pick up 2 sts, k8, pick up 2 sts., k8 K in $_{2\times2}$ rib for 3/4" K 4 rounds and bind off loosely. Weave in ends.
