Cozy Vinter Set aka "grun, grun, grun""

I knitted this cozy winter set as a christmas gift and it was perfect for last-minute knitting. It just flew off the needles with the simple garter stitch pattern and big needles. tes were taken while knitting so you'llonly get some basic guidelines and not a real pattel

C = 2 strands of SULAWESl and 1 strand of WHEATGRASSheldtogether

NEEDLE SIZE:

4mm, 6mm, 7mm circular needles or DPNs Abbreviation: CO = Count On

STITCH PATTERN:

for knitting in the round, place marker at beginning of round and knit first round and purl second round and repeat these 2 rows. 1 ridge = 2 rows

GAUGE:

Size is only important for hat. I never checked my gauge, but knitted the cowl first, pulled it over my head and then checked how many stitches less I would need for a snuggly hat. The stitch pattern is very stretchy and widens with wear so keep that in mind when measuring.

COWL: finished measurements un-stretched: ca. 52cm wide / 27cm long With color A and size 7mm needles CO 60 stitches and join for knitting in the round. Pattern illustration

Before starting try on your cowl and see what width fits best around your head and count these stitches. CO your determined no. of stitches (56 in my case) in col A on size 4mm needles (if your CO is very tight you might want to use 5mm needles) and join for knitting in the round. Knit 5 rides before changing to col C and size 7mm needles. Continue in garter stitch for 39 rows =19,5 ridges (or desired height) and start decreasing for crown in the purl stitch row. Place a marker after every 7th stitch and knit the 2 stitches before each marker together, repeat every second row. When you have only 8 stitches left cut the yarn and thread those live stitches onto the yarn and pull to close the gap. Weave in all loose ends. FINGERLESS MITTS:

Using 6mm needles and col A CO 34 stitches by using the provisional CO method. Work in garter stitch for 21 ridges (or length that fits around your palm). These mitts are worked flat and then closed by sewing the live stitches of the last row to the live stitches of the provisional CO using the kitchener stitch. Don't forget to leave a gap for your thumb. Weave in all loose ends.

Some more info:

I called this project "gruin, gruin, gruin" not only because it is green, but this is also the title of a German children song about colors in reference to workwear, which makes it easier for small children to memorize. It starts off with green, as the color for huntsman, and children love to carry the song forward by adding all the colors they can think of. And so can you by choosing your favorite color for this project.
