Size: 20 -22" circumference Materials: for each hat: 1 ball of Sirdar Big Softy and 1 skein of Araucania Maipo Needles: 10mm
Ribbed Hat
With Big Softy cast on 48sts. Row 1: with Big Softy K1 stitch, with Maipo P1 stitch, (with Big Softy K2, with Maipo P1) repeat to last stitch, K1 in Big Softy. Row 2: with Big Softy P1 stitch, (with Maipo K1 stitch, with Big Softy P2) repeat to last two stitches, K1 in Maipo, P1 in Big Softy. Repeat these two rows until hat is 6" from cast on edge.
Crown Shaping
Keeping pattern/colours correct: K1, P1, (K2tog, P1, K2, P1) repeat to last four stitches, K2tog, P1, K1. Work one wrong-side row. K1, P1, K1, P1, (K2tog, P1, K1, P1) repeat to last stitch, K1. Work one wrong-side row. K1, (K2tog, P1, K1) repeat to end. Work one wrong-side row. (K2tog, P1) repeat to last stitch, K1. Work one wrong-side row. K1, (K2tog) repeat to end. Put remaining stitches on tapestry needle and pull tightly. Sew seam. Attach pom-pom if required.
