Brombaere from Noordwijk

This sock pattern is based on an old fisherman's gansey from Noordwijk, a little fishertown on the Dutch North Sea coast. Other than most Dutch fisherman's ganseys, the origin of this gansey is thought to be found in Danmark and not in Great Britain. Hence the name: ,Brombcere". The picture of the little boy with the sailing boat who wears a gansey like this is to be found in the book: "Nederlandse visserstruien met breipatronen" by H. van der Klift-Tellegen. (1983 Bilt). This pattern is made form my son Bart with shoe size 14,5/49,5 but is easily adjustable to other sizes. The pattern is suitable for both man and women. Starting sock knitters are invited to knit this pattern.
Material:
Needle size: 2,25 mm About 100 gram sock yarn. Because this is kind of a textured sock the pattern shows better wit a solid or semi solid sock yarn. In this example I choose for the Regia Word Ball in the Dutch national colour orange. And I knitted the white parts and reserved the orange parts for the pattern stitch. 30 st. and 38 rows knitted = 10x10 cm. Please pay attention; this pattern is described for shoe size 39. Yet because the pattern stitch is a multiply of 4, the pattern is easily adjustable to other sizes.
