Librarian mitts Design: Marika Lundgren Yarn: A: Cherry Tree Hil supersock merino (this color is a so called potluck blue), 100g (l used much less than 100g) B: Remnants of Kidopale or similar yarn. Yarn is held double throughout. Stitch markers. Yarn alternatives: Opal, Regia, Lorna's Laces or similar sock yarn with a gauge of 28-30 st to $4^{\ast}$ Gauge: 15 st and 21 rows to 2" on DPNs size 2,5mm. Abbreviations: $\mathsf{K}\mathsf{=}$ knit, p=purl, st $\equiv$ stitch(es), pm=place marker, sm $=$ slip marker, m1 $=$ make 1 by picking up the horizontal bar between st and knit in back, co=cast on

Cast on 64 st with yarn A. Distribute on 4 DPNs and close the ring. Knit like this:

r1. knit r2. purl r3. knit r4. purl r5-11 knit Change to yarn B (NOTE! Hold yarn double). r12. knit r13-17 purl Change to yarn A. Repeat rows 5-17 twice (you will end with yarn B). Change to yarn A and knit 1 row. From now on you willonly knit. Next row: decrease 12 st evenly $=52\mathrm{st}$ Knit 2".

Thumb gusset:

Start increase for thumb on DPN #3 between st 1 and 3. Increase every 4th row, 6 times like this:

1st increase:

Knit all st on DPN #1 and #2. K1, pm, m1, k1, m1, pm, k until end of row. Knit 3 rows.

2nd increase:

Knit all st on DPN #1 and #2. K1, slm, m1, k3, m1, slm, k until end of row. Repeat in this manner (with 2 more stitches between increased st). When all increases Knit 3 rows. On next row, put 15 thumb stitches on loose thread (all 13 st between markers $+1$ on each side). CO 3 new st behind the thumb. K 16 rows. On next row, put 12 st (6 from DPN #1 and 6 from DPN #4 on a loose thread, knit until end of row. CO 4 new stitches to close row. Knit 4 more rows. Now knit the fingers. Divide st for remaining 3 fingers and co (or pick up) st between fingers according to schematic below. Knit 12 rows on each finger. BO using a sewn bind off. Put thumb st on DPNs and pick up 4 st behind thumb. Knit 12 rows and BO as for fingers. Darn in all ends. Knit the other mitten as the first, but increase between the last 3 st on DPN #2.
