Daniel's hearts
Daniel needed a really warm and cozy pair of socks. He was very specific about how the socks should be. Black. with red hearts. well, this is what he got. And he loves them
Yarn: Novita 7 veljestä (ca 200 meters/100gram) 100 g main colour (MC), 50 g contrasting colour (CC) Needles: 3,5 mm double pointed needles or the size you neet to get the right gauge. Size: shoesize 41-43 Gauge:25m/10cm The socks are knitted in the round on dpns. Of course you can use magic loop if you prefer, but the pattern is written with dpns in mind.
Leg;
The leg is knitted in ribbing, k1p1. Cast on 56 sts with MC. Join without twisting to work in the round. When the work measures 5 cm you start the striped section; \*knit 2 rows CC, 1 row Mc\* 8 times. Work the leg in MC for 3cm more.
Heel flap;
Work the heel flap in stockinette over the 28 sts on the back of the leg slipping the first stitch om every row. (needle 1 and 4) After 28 rows, ending with a wrong side row you start the decrease section RS row; slip 1, k15, ssk, k1. Turn WS row; slip 1, p5, p2tog, p1. Turn RS row; slip 1, k6, ssk, k1. Turn. Conintue in this manner with decrease on each row using the stitch before and after the gap created by working in short rows, until all heel stitches have been worked.
Gusset;
Resume working in the round in stockinette. Pick up 15 sts om the right side of the heel. Knit half of the remaining heel stitches. (needle 4) knit the remaining heel stitches and pick up 15 sts on the left side of the heel. (needle 1) After the first row you will begin the gusset decreases on needles 1 and 4 as follows; Knit to the last 2 sts on needle 1, k2tog. Knit needle 2 and 3. On needle 4, ssk, knit the rest of the sts. Repeat this on every other row intil 56 sts remains.
Foot;
Knit one more row of MC without decreasing. Now start with the chart on needle 1. After finishing the chart continue in MC until socks measure 5 cm less than desired length. Change to CC and knit 4 rows before starting toe decreases. Make sure that you start the decreases on the side of the foot.
Toe;
Top of the foot.: k1, ssk, knit until 3 sts remain on the next needle, k2tog, k1. Sole: k1, ssk, knit until 3 sts remain on the next needle, k2tog, k1. Make the decreases on every other road 4 times and then on every row until 8 sts remain. Cut the yarn and pull through the remaining sts. Knit the second sock. Weave in the ends.
