Alpaca Pom Hat Knitting Pattern: A Step-by-Step Guide Using Worsted and Bulky Weight Yarns

Alpaca Pom Hat

Materials

120 yards worsted weight yarn 120 yards bulky weight yarn US 10 needles (16" circular and double pointed)

Instructions

With both yarns held together make a pom pom 2 V2" in diameter. Set aside. With both yarns, cast on 60 stitches. Place marker and join, being careful not to twist stitches. Purl 2 rows. Knit 7 rows. Purl 2 rows. Knit 7 rows. Purl 2 rows. Knit 7 rows. Knit until hat measures 6 12 - 7". Begin decreasing on the following round, as follows, changing to double pointed needles when needed: Round 1: (Knit 8, k2tog) 6 times. Rounds 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12: Knit. Round 3: (Knit 7, k2tog) 6 times. Round 5: (Knit 6, k2tog) 6 times. Round 7: (Knit 5, k2tog) 6 times. Round 9: (Knit 4, k2tog) 6 times. Round 11: (Knit 3, k2tog) 6 times. Round 13: (Knit 2, k2tog) 6 times. Round 14: (Knit 1, k2tog) 6 times. Round 15: (k2tog) 6 times (6 stitches are left.) Cut the yarn leaving a 15" tail. Thread it through the remaining stitches, draw up tightly and secure. Use this tail to attach pom pom. Weave in ends.
