Casper Cowl
By Beth Griffin This cowl will give the cable novice an easy introduction to cabling, plus it willkeep the wearer's neck toasty warm all winter!
Materials:
\*Approximately 200 yards worsted/aran weight yarn (l used 2 skeins of Sublime Cashmere Merino Silk Aran) \*OneUS size $8/5\;\mathrm{mm}\;16$ inch circular needle, or the size that gives you gauge (five double pointed needles or two circulars may also be used, if preferred. Pattern repeats are easily divisible for either method.) \*Cable needle \*Eight stitch markers, one of which should be a diferent color/style to mark the beginning of the row \*Tapestry needle
Gauge:
17-18 stitches over 4 inches in stockinette
Pattern:
Cast on 96 stitches loosely. (l used the long-tail cast on method, which provides a nice, stretchy edge.) Join for working in the round, being careful that stitches are not twisted. Place marker to indicate beginning of row. Knit 6 rows. Set up row: knit 12 stitches, place marker. Continue for remainder of row. This sets you up for the 12-stitch pattern repeat. Begin chart (see next page of pattern), reading every row from right to left. Repeat entire chart 3 times total. Then repeat Row 1 of chart one more time. Knit 7 rows. Bind offloosely! Weave in ends, then give your new creation a nice bath (unless your yarn doesn't recommend soaking). Block. Enjoy!
