Scarf: Cast on 28 sts and work k1p1 ribbing pattern across row. Row1: Wyib, sl first st pwise (here and at the beginning of every row),p1, $\ast\boldsymbol{1}_{\mathrm{k}1}$ , $\mathrm{p}1^{*}$ ; rep from \* to \* to end. Repeat row 1 until scarf measures $5^{\circ}$ from cast on edge.
Buttonhole:
Next row: Wyib,sl first st pwise,(p1,k1) 6x bo next 1(2) st(s)\*\*, continue in ribbing (knit your knits sts and pul your purl sts) to end of row. $\ast\ast1$ st for $1^{\circ}$ button, 2 sts for $2^{\circ}$ button Next row: Wyib,sl frst st pwise,p1,k1 6x, cast on1(2) sts continue in ribbing (knit your kits sts and purl you purl sts) to end of row. Continue in pattern until scarf measures $31^{\circ}$ .Bind ofloosely. Weave in ends. Sew button to other end of scarf at the same position as button hole.
