This cap was designed for a knit along that started during the 2008 baseball season. They could also be made plain or maybe do other duplicate stitch charts as desired. This is a good pattern to try your hand at duplicate stitch. I suppose you could even do a different baseball team. :- ) Below there is a simple heart chart that can be done if desired. You decide.... and enjoy! You will notice that I didn't decrease all the way down because doing so would make the hat too clingy. With the shallow decrease it gathers nicely so it rests on the head comfortably. Skills needed: Circular knitting, duplicate stitch and decreasing. Directions for Child size ( $\mathsf{\Delta}^{\prime}\mathsf{S}=4\mathsf{y r s}$ . to small teen) Size 7 16 inch circs or whatever you need to get gauge Pound of Love makes a bunch of caps Scraps of Contrasting color for the 'B' Darning Needle Stitch Marker Gauge 5 sts per inch But this time don't fret about gauge as the cap you make will fit someone and be enjoyed! So relax! Cast on 80 sts. Join being mindful not to twist your stitches. Place marker at beginning of round. Rnd 1 (do until done): Begin knitting around plain until your cap measures approx. 6-6 1/2 inches from beginning. Now comes the decrease section - Rnd 1: $\ast\mathsf{K}6$ ,k2tog\* around. Rnd 7: $\ast\mathsf{K}3$ , K2tog\* around. (40 sts) Rnd 8: Knit Cut yarn and thread tail through needle. Take stitches off needle by slipping stitches onto darning needle until all are removed. Then, weave through the stitches and bring up tight. Weave through several times until you think it's secure. I avoid making knots to prevent them from irritating the wearers head. Time to work the "B". Center the area in which you would like the 'B' to be like in the photo. Take up the contrast color and start the chart: XXXXXXX xX X X XX X X X X XXX XXXXX XX XX X X X XX X X XXX X XXXXXXX Weave in ends neatly and Please send you finished caps to: Jimmy Fund Clinic c/o Lisa Scherber Dana-Faber Cancer Institute 44 Binney Street Boston, Massachusetts 02115
