To adapt size of scarf just repeat the heart pattern (column 6-15 respectively 66 - 75) as well as the border pattern to the left and to the right. For the scarf as shown the heart pattern was worked 5 times without leading/ending 5 stitches in maincolour.
Tips and tricks:
with edge stitch in double knit technique. The edge stitches is always knitted in off-white Cast on 132 stitches in off-white as knitted cast on, in the first row integrate contrastcolour 1 (petrol) for the border pattern by knitting the contrastcolour through the backloop (kfb = knit front and back: knit frontloop with maincolour (off-white) , knit backloop with contrastcolout 1 (petrol) = purl stitch) => the result is 2 edge stitches + 130 doublestitches (DS) = 132 stitches. In row 11 substitute contrastcolout 1 with contrastcolour 2. In row 53 substitute contrastcolout 2 with contrastcolour 1. After last pattern row knit 1 wrong side row just with the main colour (off-white) by knitting DS as normal (knit 1, purl 1).In the next row start to bind off: knit edge stitch, \*knit next 2 stitches together through backloop, slip both knitted stitches back to left needles and knit both stitches together through backloop\*, repeat from \* until all stitches are bind off. Crochet button holes on one small edge and sew buttons to other small edge of scarf after washing and blocking, so that the scarf can be closed from both sides.
