Instructions are for a chunky sweater to fit a small person (34 inch bust), with positive ease. Sizing down the hook and yarn will make a child sized sweater, down to a baby's sweater. I used a 6.00mm hook and aran weight yarn to make a sweater for an 18 month old (see final page). I designed this to be a super quick project that you can complete within a day. Yarn: Gigante by Patons. This yarn is super, super bulky Hook: 10mm Gauge: 8 stitches and 4 rows of dc to make 4"x4" swatch

Construction notes:

American crochet terms Crocheted from the neck, down, in the round. The starting/finishing shell of each shell row is referred to the first shell throughout the pattern.

The rest of the body is alternating dc and shell rows (shell= 4 dc in the same stitch, skip the next 3 stitches) Body finished with 4 rows of sc. Sleeves 6 rows of dc, decreasing each row with 2dc together as follows (-1, 0, 0, -1, -2, -2). Finish with 3 rows of sc (-2, -1, 0). The sleeves can be altered by adding or omitting row. Alternatively, you can make the sleeve in the same pattern as the body, with alternative dc and shells.
