rescent-shaped shawlette inspired by a beach in Stanley Park, Vancouver, B( Yarn: 1 ball Knitpicks Gossamer (50 grams, 440 yards) Needles: 3.5 mm circular needle (try to choose one with a long cableāat least 80 cm) Gauge: 15 stitches and 50 rows=4 inches in Stockinette stitch, blocked Notions: yarn needle, stitch markers Note: The Make 1 increase used here is the Elizabeth Zimmerman Make 1. Make a backwards loop and place it on the right hand needle to make 1.
Instructions
Cast on 8 stitches. Row 1: Knit 1, M1, k to last stitch, M1, k1. Row 2: Purl 1, M1, p to last stitch, M1, p1. Repeat these two rows until there are 204 stitches. Then: K1, M1, place marker, work row 1 of Pebble Border Chart until last stitch, place marker, M1, k1. Turn. Border Row 1: P1, M1, purl to marker, work next row of Pebble Border chart until marker, purl to last stitch, M1, p1. Border Row 2: K1, M1, k to marker, work next row of chart until marker, knit to last stitch, M1, k1. Work these two rows until you have worked the border chart 2 times, finishing with a Row 1. Epenthetical Designs, Anna Olson 2012 While you are working the border chart, every time there are 8 additional edge stitches, move the markers out and add repeats to border. You will do this on rows 9, 17, and 1 of the chart. There will be 300 stitches when you finish. Work rows 1 and 2 once more, 304 stitches. Picot bind-off: \*Cast on 2 stitches using the cable cast-on, bind off 4. Slip stitch on right needle to left needle. Repeat from \* until you have 1 stitch left. Fasten off. Weave in ends and block.

The black border marks out the edges, and the red border divides the two repeats, which are shown to give a better view of the lace pattern. Work the right edge stitches, then work the 8 repeat stitches until there are only enough stitches to work the left edge stitches. The rows where the stitch markers are moved out to add another repeat are marked in red.
