Blanket Edging

Requirements
A square of polar fleece or boiled wool measuring $30^{\circ}$ oneachside Approximately 200 yds worsted weight yarn (sample uses Universal's Classic Long Print) CrewelNeedle Size f crochet hook Size 8 dpns Use a saucer or glass to round the edges of your square. Thread the crewel needle with the end of the yarn from the ball. Do not cut yarn. Make a running stitch around the edge of the square about 14" from the raw edge. The stitches should be approximately V/2" apart and fairly even. Pull the yarn as needed from the ball as you stitch.

When you reach the beginning, unthread the crewel needle. Using the crochet hook go under the first stitch on the front of the blanket and do a single crochet then put the hook under the stitch on the back of the blanket edge and do a single crochet. Continue in this manner all the way around the blanket edge.

Cast on 8 stitches on one of the double pointed needled. You will be working an I-Cord bind off. Knit 7 stitches then pick up one of the single crochet stitches and knit this together with the last stitch on the needle. Push the stitches back and repeat. Corners: At $z^{,}$ before the turn at the corner of the blanket you will need to 'curve' your I-Cord around the corner. To accomplish this continue to work the I-Cord as above but work 2 rows into each single crochet by picking up the front half of the single crochet and then the back half.

When you reach the beginning, bind off and weave the seam closed. Weave in ends.
