Set Up Patterning on Foot/Instep

Begin Set-Up Chart A: Needle 1 will become the top of the foot, Needle 2 the sole. Begin Set-Up Chart A on Needle 1; knit all sts. on Needle 2. Continue in this manner until the end of Chart A.

Foot

Continue patterning on Needle 1 with Main Chart B; knit all stitches on Needle 2. Repeat entire Main Chart B 3 times or until 2.5" from desired length of sock. ①2011, Nicki Miller. All Rights Reserved. For personal use only; not for resale or profit. Page 1

Gusset/lnstep

Round 1: Needle 1: Continue patterning; Needle 2: K1, kfb, knit to 3 sts. before the end of the row, kbf, k2 Round 2: Knit all stitches. Repeat rounds 1 and 2 until there are a total of 87 sts.: 32 on Needle 1; Needle 2: knit 27 sts. M1, k27.

Heel Turn

Needle 1: Knit in pattern. You will now knit back and forth on Needle 2 for the time being, leaving Needle 1 rest. Remember to make a note of which row of patterning you ended on! Needle 2: Row 1(RS): K37, kfb, k1, w&t. Row 2: P22, pfb, p1, w&t. Row 3: K20, kfb, k1, w&t. Row 4: P18, pfb, p1, w&t. Row 5: K16, kfb, k1, w&t. Row 6: P14, pfb, p1, w&t. Row 7: K12, kfb, k1, w&t. Row 8: P10, pfb, p1, w&t. Needle 2 will now have 63 sts., and you have just completed a wrong-side row. On the right side of the sock, knit to the end of Needle 2, knitting each wrap together with the stitch it wraps. On Needle 1, work across the instep, picking up the patterning where you left off. Make another note of the patterning row.

Heel Flap

You will work again only on Needle 2 for the time being: Row 1 (RS): K47, (knitting each wrap together with the stitch it wraps), ssk, turn. Row 2: Sl1 purlwise, p31, p2tog, turn. Row 3: \*Sl1 k1\*; repeat from \* to \* 16 times, ssk, turn. Row 4: Repeat Row 2. Repeat Rows 1 and 2 until all the stitches have been used, ending on Row 2. Needle 2 will now hold 33 sts. On the last row, decrease by 1 stitch in the center of the row. You will now have 32 sts. on Needle 2. Begin working in the round once again, picking up the pattern on Main Chart B where you left off on Needle 1 and continuing in sequence. Knit all sts. on Needle 2. Next Round: Continue Main Chart B patterning on Needle 1, continuing it at this point on Needle 2. Continue knitting the Main Chart B on both Needle 1 and Needle 2 for the remaining rounds of patterning; continue knitting Main Chart B three additional times.

Cuff
