Mustersocken-Knitalong

Materials: 4 - Ply Sock Yarn in two contrasting colours Needles: DPN's (4 needles, not 3) in 2.5mm, and one Circular in 2.5mm; US Size 1 Size: 39US Size 8 Cast On: Using the Circular needle, cast on 60 stitches. DO NOT JOIN into round. Knit four rounds as follows: Knit 2 rounds, colour 1: in garter stitch (Purl Sts on right side), then Knit 2 rounds plain, colour 2. Do NOT join into round. This is the fun part! Be careful when twisting / turning Sts around the needle, that you always turn in the same direction. Do NoT join into round. Continue as follows knitting stitches off the circular needle onto the DPN's: Knit 4 off onto DPN, twist (or Flip) ALL the remaining stitches once around the needle, being careful to turn always in the same direction. Knit the next 4 Sts off the CIRC onto DPN, then twist the remaining stitches around CIRC needle. Continue knitting 4, then flipping the remaining stitches, until all the stitches have been evenly divided onto the DPN's. NOW join into a round. Do 2 X2 ribbing (K2, P2) for 15 rounds. Divide Sts on DPN's as follows: Needle 1 and 3: each have 12 stitches Needle 2 and 4: each have 18 stitches. Stitches are multiples of 6. Continue Pattern as follows: Rnd 1, Colour 1: P1, K2; repeat around Rnd 2, Colour 2: \* Knit 3 stitches ( K1, P1, K1 ) from the next stitch ( 3 stitches out of 1), slip 1, K3, slip 1; Repeat from \* around Rnd 3, Colour 2: slip 1, K3, repeat around Rnd 4, Colour 1: \*K3, K 2tog through back loops, K1, K 2tog normally: Repeat from \* around NOTE: After the 4th round, the stitches are staggered by one stitch from each needle. That is: at the beginning of each round in pattern, the first stitch from needle 1 is knit onto needle 4, continue knitting the first stitch from each needle onto last needle.

AND: The stitch count is increased in rounds 2 and 3, so count stitches only on rounds 1 and 4 to maintain correct stitch count.
