Dolores Cup Cosy
A bow shaped cup cosy in... ahem... honour of Dolores Umbridge. Cosy and cross band are worked flat and then seamed. The pattern can be easily adjusted to make other objects like bracelets of headbands (info at end of pattern). Yarn: super bulky (18 m / 20 yds MC, 3.5 m / 4 yds CC) Needles: 6 mm (US 10) Gauge: 7 sts x 12 rows -> 5 cm x 5 cm (2" x 2") in seed stitch Seed stitch (for odd number of stitches): All rows: (k1, p1) repeat to last stitch, knit last stitch
Instructions:
Cosy: Cast on 11 stitches Work in seed stitch pattern for 22 cm (or desired length). Cast off in seed stitch pattern. Leave long yarn tail for seaming. CrossBand: Caston5stitches Work in seed stitch pattern for 8 cm. Cast off in seed stitch pattern. Leave long yarn tail for seaming.

Finishing:
Fold cross band, holding right sides together (both sided look the same - you decide!), and align the cast-on with the cast-off edge. Seam along cast-on / cast-off edge using slip stitch or whip stitch. Work away yarn ends.

Turn cross band right side out and slip it over the cosy. The seam of the cross band should be on the wrong side of the cosy (you can still adjust that later). Fold cosy, holding right sides together, and align the rough edges. Seam along cast-on / cast-off edge using slip stitch or whip stitch. Work away yarn ends.

Slip cross band over seam of cosy. Pull into shape. Attach cross band to cosy with two or three stitches. Suggestions for making a bracelet or a headband (I have not tested these, but will soon and then includepictures):
Bracelet:
To make a bracelet I would suggest using a thinner yarn to make the bracelet less wide. I think a yarn (and corresponding needles) that gives you about half the original width should work just fine... so you are looking for a gauge of about 14 stitches to 2 inches. Measure your wrist circumference (wc). Follow the instructions for the cosy part, but stop knitting at %4 inch less than wc. Measure the width of the bracelet. Make the cross band as long as the bracelet is wide. Follow instructions for Finishing.
Headband:
To make a headband just make the "Cosy" long enough to fit around your head. No further modifications needed .
