Inspired by Elizabeth Zimmermann's February Baby Sweater (Baby Sweater On Two Needles) found inKnitter'sAlmanac. Thiz iz designed as an easy-to-wear pullover for an active girl. It is knit from the bottom up in the round to the armpits, then back-and-forth for the shoulders. For the ease of the girl just learning to dress herself, the front and back are the same. The length is just long enough to be fancy and just short enough to stay out ofthe way for playtime. Knit it with some soft yarn in your little girl's favorite color. Gauge: 17 sts/ 4 inches in garter stitch 1 pattern repeat/ 1.5 inchez in Gull stitch Pattern / 18 sts/ 4 inches in stockinette stitch (for reference) Size: Toddler girl \~2-3 years of age. Suppliey: \~160 yards of soft yarw of your choice \~size 4.oomm circular needle (us size 6), or whatever you need to get the right gauge in the pattern stitch \~1 stitch marker \~1 tapestry needle My tunic waz knitted with Berroco "Comfort" GullstitchPattern: adaptedslightly from Elizabeth Zimmermann'sKnittersAlmanac Worked over 7 stitchez and 4 rows: Round1: \*k2tog, yo, k3, y0, sk\* repeat around Round2: Knit Round 3: \*k1, k2tog, yo, k1, y0, ssk, k1\* repeat around Round4: Knit
Patterwi Co 112 stitches. Join into round, being careful not to twist stitches. Hem: Work in garter stitch (knit 1 round, purl 1 round) for 1 inch. Body: Work in Gull stitch for 12.5 inches. Knit 1 round, decreasing 8 stitches. Work in Garter stitchfor 1 inch. Divide for top front: Bind off 5 stitches, knit until there are 47 stitches onthe right needle, turn. \*\*Knit acroyy. K2, sk, kto- last 4 stitches, k2tog, k2. Knitacross. K2, sk, kto- last 4 stitches, k2tog, k2. Knit until there are 9 ridges of garter stitch. End with a wrong side row. Dividefor shouldery: k13, bind off until there are 12 stitches onthe left needle, knit to end. Right front shoulder: k10, k2tog, k1. Knit every row until there are 15 garter ridgeztotal above the Gull stitch. Bindoff Left front shoulder: starting on wrong side, attach yarn and k1, ssk, knit to end. Knit until there are 15 garter ridgez total. Bindoff.
Top Back:
On right side, attachyarn and bind off 5 stitchey, then knit to end. Finish back the same way aztop front, following directions from \*\* above. Finishing: Sew up shoulders, weave in ends, and give to-the cute little girl of your choice.
