This Shawl HAS to be blocked in order for the lace to really Open up. Markers can be used or not. Since I was able to distinguish the center stitch I was able to knit without markers. Newer knitters however, should use markers. A circular needle was used to accommodate the large number of stitches that are used. Do not join in the round. Work is knit flat Slip Markers as needed..

K-Knit BO- bind off P-Purl PM- place marker Sts- Stitches YO-Yarn Over SM- Slip Marker M-Marker K2Tog- Knit 2 stitches together SSK- Slip I st stitch knitwise on left needle to right needle, Slip 2nd stitch purlwise from left needle onto right needle, insert tip of left needle into front of the 2 slipped stitches, knit these 2 stitches together.
