These bags are fun and easy to knit during spare time, easy to carry along in a bag during vacation season, and then they are ready to gift whenever the need arises. Soap Bag:This is aquick and fun knit, and a hit as a quick gif. Gift Bag: Fast and adorable. Holds a pair of socks, small book, or a small box of fine chocolates.

Construction: Needle Size: 1 pair of straight needles, size 8 to 10 US / 5-6mm. Gauge: Appx 4 to 5 st /1 inch,though exact gauge is not crucial for this item.fyouknow you habitually knit very snugly or very relaxed, change needle size to adjust appropriaely. Repeat above eyelet stitch pattern until all stitches are worked. For Gift Bag only, continue here: Purl all sts one row. Eyelet Row 2: K2, (k2, yo, k2tog) rep until 2 st left, k2. Repeat above eyelet stitch pattern untilallstitches are worked.
Transition Row(s)
K all sts for 1 (5) rows. . Bind Off Bind offall but 3 (5) stitches. HANDLE Note: Put ll3 (5) remaining stitches on left nedl if necessary. Knit 20 (24) rows. Bind off final stitches. FINISHING Stitch together bottom and side of bag using yarn and large-eyed sewing needle. Sew handle to opposite side of bag top from where it is already attached. Use needle to work yarn ends on the inside where they do not show: Block bag by wetting or steaming bag and patting into proper shape, allow to dry. Find soap/gift to fit bag. insert into bag.
