kl - knit one stitch p3 - purl three stitches sts - stitches k2tog - knit two stitches together as one p2tog - purl two stitches together as one (p2 k4)\*8 - repeat a pattern of two purls followed by four knits so that it's repeated a total of eight times kl (p2 k4)\*7 p2 k3 - knit one stitch, then repeat a pattern of two purls followed by four knits so it's repeated a total of seven times, then purl two stitches and knit three stitches.

Yarn: Garnstudio Drops Polaris $36\mathrm{m}/39$ yards per $100\mathrm{g}$ 1.2 skeins $(\sim\!43\mathrm{m})$ Needles: $12\mathrm{mm}$ Gauge: 4sts/6rows in 5cm(2in) (stockinette) Start with a beautiful skein of soft wool. 1. Cast on 48 stitches on a circular 12mm needle (the yarn calls for 15mm but my LYS had none of those in stock. Knit a bit


loose and you'll be fine.) 2. Turn the work around and crossover join for working in the round. 3. Knit all sts. for three rows. 4. $(\mathsf{p}2\,\mathsf{k}4)^{*}8$ the following two rows. 5. k1 $(\mathsf{p}2\,\,\mathsf{k}4)^{*}7\,\,\mathsf{p}2\,\,\mathsf{k}3$ 6. k1 (p2 k1 k2tog kl) $^{\ast7}$ p2 k1 k2tog. You should now have 40 stitches. 7. k1 $({\mathsf{p}}2\ k3)^{*}{\mathsf{7}}\ {\mathsf{p}}2\ k2$ 8. k2 $({\mathsf{p}}2\ k3)^{*}{\mathsf{7}}\ {\mathsf{p}}{\mathsf{2}}$ kl for the following 2 rows 9. k2 (p2tog $\mathsf{K}2)^{*}7$ . Pull the yarn tail through the last two stitches you knitted in the original knitting direction. 20. Pull the yarn tail through the remaining two stitches opposite to the original knitting direction. 21. Pull the yarn tail through the hole between the last four stitches and into the hat. 22. Weave your ends in neatly. 23. Wear and enjoy.
