WINGEDTOPforAMERICANGIRL18'DOLLBy Linda Sondermann

This top is a variation on a simple tank top with added "wings" that create a ruffled sleeve. There are no button closures and the front and back have matching necklines. It is knit in one piece, back to front over the shoulders and the wings are picked up afterwards and knit in stockinette on increasingly larger needles. Sides are seamed. Pretty quick to knit, and takes slightly more than an ounce of sport weight yarn.
You Will Need:
Yarn: DK or sport weight yarn Approximately 1/2 ounce Gauge: 6 stitches to the inch Needles: Straights or circulars, whichever you prefer, size to get gauge (approx. size 3) Plus next 3 sizes up (e.g. 4,5,6). Safety pin to use as a stitch holder for strap. Yarn needle to sew up seams. Crochet hook for single crochet edges (size appropriate to the yarn).
You need to know:
Long tail cast on Stockinette stitch 1 x 1 ribbing Decreasing -- BO Increasing - M1 (pick up ladder between 2 stitches, slip it to the left needle and knit into the back). Slip 1 (slip stitch from left needle onto right needle as if to knit without knitting). Single crochet to finish edges.
