Star Trek Insignia Charts

I designed these as a crochet pattern for a scarf, but feel free to use them in any way you see fit. Knit them, crochet them, turn them into super-stylish potholders. Have fun! Crocheted Scarf Pattern: Hook:K $:6.5\;\mathsf{m m})$ Yarn: Aran or Heavy Worsted. I used Lion Brand Vanna's Choice, but it would be absolutely delicious in some nice wool or double-stranded Caron's or something. Gauge: Not important; go by feel of the fabric, rather than gauge. Colors The area outside of the insignia will be in the 'shirt' color - yellow, blue, or red. If you're feeling especially captain-y, use green instead of yellow, for Kirk's fierce wrap around shirt (because even captains have fat days). The border and inside design are in black, and the background within the insignia is either gold (for Tos) or silver (for XI/nu!Trek). (Make 2) Command Badge - in gold, silver and black Using gold yarn Ch 24 sts Begin row 1 of chart A (command), leaving 3 stitches on either side as a border. The border stitches aren't shown on the charts. Join black and gold/silver yarn. Use black yarn for the gray areas on the chart, and silver for the inside of the insignia. Work until end of chart. SC 3 rows. Engineering/Operations Badge - Cut gold yarn, join red yarn. Repeat the previous pattern, using Chart B Science/Medical Badge - Cut red yarn, join blue yarn Repeat previous pattern, using Chart C Repeat pattern (command-engineering-science). You should have 6 connected blocks. For a reversible scarf, make two (total of 12 blocks) and sew them together. I made the scarf by working the first three charts right side up, then flipping them over and working backwards (so row 1 would start in the top, left-hand corner), so that the all the insignias would point upwards when draped over the neck like this: >
