Absolutely Fierce Armwarmers
a pattern for you from Weaverknits Total fabulousness. But the weather was a bit cold.

Ann and Beth Weaver made some killer purchases in Chicago this spring, including a sleeveless dress taken right off the mannequin in the window of a small boutique. In the runway colors of spring and fall 2008, the arm warmers we conceived are knit in super-soft and warm alpaca and have a thumb hole that can be used or ignored and pushed up over the wrist for a ruched look. These have a lot of stretch, and will fit biceps up to about 14 inches around. If you have larger upper arms, add some more stitches or go up a needle size so as not to cut off your circulation. We wouldn't want that. Directions: Make 2
Cast on 60 stitches in CC2 (Dijon). Join stitches into a round, with 20 stitches on each of three dpns, being careful not to twist. Place a marker to note the beginning of the round. Work in k1, pl rib for 2 inches. Change to CC2 (Denim). Knit one row. Beginning with a p stitch, p1, k1 for four rounds. You are knitting the purl stitches from the previous portion of the work and purling the knit stitches. Change to MC (Dark Grey). K1, pl until work measures 6 inches from the beginning. You are now knitting the purl stitches from the previous portion and purling the knit stitches. At 6 inches, sl1, k2tog, pass slipped stitch over at the beginning of each needle (every 20 stitches). P the next stitch, and continue in ribbing as previously. You will have decreased a total of 6 stitches and have 18 stitches on each needle, 54 stitches total. At this point it is a good idea to measure your arm to determine your desired fit. Try on your work, with the top hitting where you feel it is most comfortable on your upper arm. Measure, or have someone measure for you, the distance from the beginning of your work to your wrist. This is how long you will continue to work in kl, pl rib on the 54 stitches before beginning the hand striping. The example shown measures 16.5 inches from top to wrist. When you have worked your armwarmer to the wrist, change to size 4 needles and CC2 (Denim). P1, k1 (again, offsetting previous section's ribbing) for 1 inch. Change backto size 2 needles and MC (Dark Grey). Kl, pl (again, offseting previous section's ribbing) for 2 inches. Change back to size 4 needles and CC2 (Denim). P1, k1 (again, offsetting previous section's ribbing) for 1 inch. Change back to size 2 needles and MC (Dark Grey). WORKING FLAT, BACK AND FORTH to create a thumbhole (if desired), k1, p1 (offsetting previous section's ribbing) for 1.5 inches. Join back into a round for and work for .5 inch. Change back to size 4 needles and CC2 Denim). Pl, k1 (again, offseting previous section's ribbing) for 1 inch. Cast off, using size 2 needles. Weave in ends.
