Hissy Stitch DeSigns
Lucy Mitts
By Karen BledSoe
An elegant little cloche hat called Lucy appeared in the Winter 2012 issue of Knitscene. After making it for myself from a skein of my own handspun and some Manos Silk Blend that matched well, I had plenty of both to make a coordinating pair of mitts. With instructions from several mitt patterns in front of me, and the directions for the linen stitch band from the hat, I soon had a matching hat and mitt set.

Pattern notes
These mitts are knit in the round from the cuff up in a dense gauge for warmth. While directions refer to double-pointed needles, feel free to use any other method of knitting in the round that is comfortable for you. If you prefer a lighter fabric, try a DK yarn with needles that obtain the same gauge.
