Transforming Midsummer Decor into Christmas Magic: A DIY Glass Ball Ornament Knitting Pattern Tutorial

Midsummer greetings to Santa Claus!

During the midsummer weekend I have used the glass balls of lemon/ mosquito candles to make a quick and easy Christmas decoration.

Materials you'll need:

Glass balls about 0 8cm and 7cm high Cotton yarn i.e. Novita Kotiväki Circular needle 3mm and/or dpn same size Tapestry needle Cast on: 6 st. (Judy's magic cast on, 2 x 3st) or your favourite method for circular cast on. Round 1. Knit all Round 2. \*k1, YO\* repeat \*-\* to the end of round (12 st) Round 3. Knit Round 4. \*k1, Y0\* repeat\*-\* to the end of round (24 st) Round 5. knit Round 6. \*k2, Y0\* repeat \*-\* t0 the end of round (36 st) Round 7. knit Round 8. \*k3, Y0\* repeat \*-\* to the end of round (48 st) Round 9. knit Round 10. \*ssk, k2, YO\* repeat \*-\* to the end of round Round 11. knit Repeat rounds 10 and 11, 6 more times or desired hight. Next round. \*ssk, k2\* repeat \*-\* to the end of round (36 st) Weave in the end of your cast on now!!! Cut off your yarn but leave about 50 cm to tighten your work to the glass ball. Slip with a tapestry needle all stitches on the yarn 50cm yarn. Put in the glass ball and pull tight. Fix all stitches 2 by 2 and weave in the last end. With a small candle this will give some Midsummer light in December. Merry Christmas!
