There is no right or wrong side - pick the side you like the best. Weave in ends. All versions: Thread ribbon through the openings according to the specification, making sure the ribbon is on the outside of the bag at the bottom. Add enough ribbon so handles are desired length. Sew the two ends of the ribbon together and position seam at the bottom of the bag. I tacked the ribbon to the bag at the bottom to keep the handles from shifting. Gusset version: seam gusset to sides. Non-Gusset version: seam sides together. The unlined bag is now done and following instructions are for lining only. Non-Gusset version: seam sides together. Cutout lining to measurements of bag adding 0.5 inches on all edges. Gusset version: Sew lining gussets to sides using a %/ inch seam with right sides facing, leaving the top open. Non-Gusset version: Sew front and back of lining with right sides together using a % inch seam, leaving the top open. Both versions: fold down the top edge of the lining % of an inch so wrong sides are together and iron. Fit lining into bag and hand stitch to the upper edge of the inside of the bag.
