There are many patterns that use various twists and turns on this motif. This pattern has a natural scallop, which is caused by the separation of the increases and the decreases. There are many ways to vary this motif, so feel free to fool around! instructions 1) Cast-on 30 stitches using a long-tail cast-on. 2) Knit 4 rows (2 ridges of garter stitch) 3) K4, [K2tog] twice, [YO, k1] three times, YO, [SSK] twice, [K2tog] twice, [YO, K1] three times, YO, [SSK] twice, K4 4) K4, P to last 4 stitches, K4 5) K 6) K4, P to last 4 stitches, K4 7) K 8) K 9) Repeat steps 3-8 until yarn is almost used up. You will be repeating chart rows 5-10. 10) Knit 4 rows (2 ridges of garter stitch.) 11) Cast-off loosely in your favorite manor. 12) Soak in cool water until totally wet (at least 30 minutes) and squeeze gently. 13) Roll in towel to remove extra water. 14) Lay flat to block, shaping to suggested size, and leave until totally dry. 15) Weave in ends and enjoy!
