In this project the only pieces sewn are the Crest and the Beak. The base of "Le Poulet' is worked back and forth in garter stitch, than you must pick up the stitches around the base for start the body. The Pois are embroidered in duplicate stitch

Yarn: Morbidone Merinos Extra Superwash 100 grams (196 yards - 179 meters) 1 ball for main color and 1 ball in contrasting color for: Crest, Beak and for the Pois Needles: Circular needles or double pointed needles 4,5 mm US 7 Tapestryneedle Fiber Fill for stuffing and Rice , beans or seeds or something else to weigh it down Gauge: 1 inch = 5 sts and 6 rows in stockinette stitch

The Base: (work back and forth in garter stitch)

The Eyes:

With the contrasting color, make the eyes in duplicate stitch, and than cut the yarn and weave in end. Be careful to make them symmetrical.

The Beak:

With Contrasting color, Co 24 sts, leaving a 8 inch long tail, join in a round and be careful not to twist. Round 1°: K Round 2°: Ssk, K8, K2Tog, SSK, K to last 2 sts, K2tog Round 3°: K Round 4°: Ssk, K6, K2Tog, SSK, K to last 2 sts, K2tog Round 5°: K Round 6°: Ssk, K4, K2Tog, SSK, K to last 2 sts, K2tog Round 7°: K Round 8°: Ssk, K2, K2Tog, SSK, K to last 2 sts, K2tog Round 9°: K Round 10°: SSK, K2Tog, SSK, K2Tog Break yarn, pull the end through the remaining sts and weave in end Pull Fiber Fill on the Beak and sew it between stitch markers at the opposite side of begin's round.

The Pois:

Make six pois in duplicate stitch, along the two sides of the body. Place them wherever you like!

Finishing the body:

Restart to work the body: K8, than place 46 sts on one side and last 46 sts on the other side Bind off the body, cut yarn leaving a long tail, and than stuff with Rice or Beans, seeds or something else to weigh it down, and a few of Fiber Fill. Sew in mattress stich.

The Crest:

With Contrasting color, Co 20 sts, leaving a 8 inch long tail, join in a round and be careful not to twist.
