Crest of the Sugar Wave Shawl
This shawl is made from Araucania Ruca which is made from sugar cane. Any similar weight yarn would work just fine as a substitute, but this soft yarn has a beautiful sheen that is well suited to this pattern. About the pattern: I've seen this pattern in several books with pattern collections, one of which is The Complete Encyclopedia of Stitchery by Mildred Graves Ryan. There may be some minor variations from publication to publication, but the Crest of the Wave pattern is basically the same everywhere.
