Pattern : Saint Nicholas

Materials :
Yarn : a little bit of white for the robe needle 4-5 mm (I used Rico Creative Cotton), 25 grams (about 50 meters) red yarn for the coat and miter, needle 4-5 mm (l used Rico Merino Soft Aran), a little bit yellow or gold yarn same thickness as the red yarn, a bit of woolfilling or fiberfilling for the beard. Crochet needles 3.5 mm and 4.5 mm. Wooden doll : height 10 cm (see picture below) Tapestry needle for lose ends and scissors Gauge: For mantle and robe; with needle size 4.5mm : 9 sc x 11 rows =5 x5cm Stitches used: chain (ch), single crochet (sc), slip stitch (slst) Between abbreviations () the total of stitches needed

Pattern :
Robe :
1. Needle 4.5 mm and white yarn : Row 1 : Leave a tail of 20cm, chain 11 , crochet 1 SC in every stitch starting in the second stitch from the hook (10). Chain and turn. 2. Row 2 : 2 SC in the first stitch, 1 SC in the next 8 SC, 2 SC in the last SC (12). Chain and turn. 3. Row 3 : 2 SC in the first stitch, 1 SC in the next 10 SC, 2 SC in the last SC (14). Chain and turn. 4. Row 4 : 1 SC in every SC (14). Chain and turn. 5. Row 5 : 2 SC in the first stitch, 1 SC in the next 12 SC, 2 SC in the last SC. Chain and DO NOT TURN! Join with a SLST to form a circle. We'll continue crocheting in circles. Chain and turn. 6. Row 6 : 1 SC in the first chain, 1 SC in the next 16 SC (17). Join with SLST, chain and turn. 7. Row 7 : 2 SC in the first stitch, 1 SC in the next 16 SC (18). Join with SLST, chain and turn. 8. Row 8 : 2 SC in the first stitch, 1 SC in the next 17 SC (19). Join with SLST, chain and turn. 9. Row 9 : 1 SC in every SC (19). Join with SLST, chain and turn. 10. Row 10 : repeat row 9. 11. Row 11 : 2 SC in the first stitch, 1 SC in the next 18 SC (20). Join with SLST, chain and turn. 12. Row 12 : 2 SC in the first stitch, 1 SC in the next 19 SC (21). Join with SLST, chain and turn. 13. Row 13 : 1 SC in every SC (21). Join with SLST, chain and turn. 14. Row 14 : repeat row 13. 15. Cut yarn and weave in ends. 16. Pull robe over the wooden doll, use the 20cm tail to close the top of the robe v the tapestry needle. Cut yarn and weave in ends.
Beard :
1. Take a little bit of filling, mold a beard, make sure the filling is nicely twisted together. Cut a white yarn of 30 cm and attach thread to the beard as shown below. Tie the beard carefully around the head of the doll and tuck away the thread underneath Santa's robe.

Coat :
1. Use red yarn and needle 4.5mm : Row 1 : Chain 14. Start in the second stitch from the hook: 1 SC, chain, skip one (1 SC, chain, skip one) rep 5x. Finish with 1 SC in the last stitch. Chain and turn. 2. Row 2 : 1 SC in the first stitch, 2 SC in the chainstitch, 1 SC in the next 9 SC or chainstitches, 2 SC in the last chainstitch, 1 SC in the ast SC (15). Chain and turn. 3. Row 3 : 1 SC in every SC (15). Chain and turn. 4. Row 4 : 1 SC in the first stitch, 2 SC in the next SC, 1 SC in the next 11 SC, 2 SC in the next SC (17). Chain and turn 5. Row 5 : 1 SC in every SC (17). Chain and turn. 6. Row 6 : 1 SC in the first SC, 2 SC in the next SC, 1 SC in the next 13 SC, 2 SC in the next SC, 1 SC in the last SC (19). Chain and turn. 7. Row 7 : 1 SC in every SC (19). Chain and turn. 8. Row 8 : Repeat row 7 9. Row 9 : 1 SC in the first SC, 2 SC in the next SC, 1 SC in the next 15 SC, 2 SC in the next SC, 1 SC in the last SC (21). Chain and turn. 10. Row 10 : 1 SC in every SC (21). Chain and turn. 11. Rij 11 : Herhaal rij 10 12. Row 12 : Repeat row 10 13. Row 13 : 1 SC in the first SC, 2 SC in the next SC, 1 SC in the next 17 SC, 2 SC in the next SC, 1 SC in the last SC (23). Chain and turn. 14. Row 14 : 1 SC in every SC (23). Yarn of and weave in ends. 15. Use yellow of gold yarn, single crochet 1 row around the coat. 1 SC in every stitch and in the corners 2 or 3 SC for a nice shape. Cut yarn and weave in. 16. Ribbon : Cut about 20cm red yarn, put it through the small openings at the top of the coat and tie it around the wooden doll. Tie a nice bow.
Miter :
1. Part A : Use needle 3.5mm ( the miter is crocheted very tightly) and red yarn. Row 1 : Chain 2, 1 SC in the second stitch (1). Chain and turn. 2. Row 2 : 3 SC in the previous SC (3). Chain and turn. 3. Row 3 : 2 SC in the first SC, 1 SC in the next and 2 SC in the last SC (5). Chain and turn. 4. Row 4 : 1 SC in every SC (5). Chain and turn. 5. Row 5 : 2 SC in the first SC, 1 SC in the next 3 SC, 2 SC in the last SC (7). Chain and turn. 6. Row 6 : 1 SC in every SC (7). Chain and turn. 7. Row 7 : 2 SC in the first SC, 1 SC in the next 5 SC, 2 SC in the last SC (9). Chain and turn. 8. Row 8 : 1 SC in every SC (9). Chain and turn. 9. Row 9 : 2 SC in the first SC, 1 SC in the next 7 SC, 2 SC in the last SC (11). Cut yarn. 10. Deel B : Repeat part A completely. Do NOT cut the yarn, but chain and turn. 11. Single crochet over part B in every SC (11), chain 1 and single crochet over part A in every SC (11). Chain 1 and join with a SLST (24). Part A and B are hanging together, connected with a chain. Chain 1 and turn. 12. 1 SC in every SC and every chain (24). Join with SLST. Chain and turn. 13. Final row : 1 SC in every SC (24). Join with SLST. Cut yarn and weave in ends. 14. Use yellow or gold yarn. Joining part A and B of the miter. Join yellow/gold yarn witl a SLST, crochet tightly around the top. 1 SC in every SC and 3 SC in the top SC. Cut yarn and weave in ends.
