Free crochet pattern Girl's vest : size : 4 years

What do you need + info
Crochet hook 4 mm or 4.5 mm. Tapestry needle to weave in ends A few buttons (l used 5, not too big ones, so you can use the openings between the stitches as buttonholes) Yarn : I used Lanagrossa Mano : 4 skeins of turquoise and 1/3 skein of fuchsia. (1 skein = 50 grams = 150 meters) Important : for the dc pattern : end every row with 2 chains and turn, start crocheting double crochet IN the first stitch (so do not skip the first stitch!) Used stitches : chains (ch), single crochet (sc), double crochet (dc), triple crochet (tc), slipstitch (slst), double crochet-decrease(dc-dec), triple crochet-decrease(tc-dec). 1 used American terms. If you want to make this vest in another size : this is very easy! Just start to make a chain that is wide enough to fit around the neck (not too loose, not too wide either) : next start dividing the stitches : 1 front part, 1 arm-shoulder part, 1 back part, 1 armshoulder part, and 1 front part. To divide : number of back stitches is the same as the 2 front sides together (so 1 front side = % stitches back part), and the arm-shoulder part is 1/3 of the number of the back stitches. So, for example : 10 stitches first front part, 7 stitches arm-shoulder part, 20 stitches back part, 7 stitches arm-shoulder part, and 10 stitches for the second front part. Next you also add 4 extra stitches for 'between the parts' and you add 2 more stitches because you start in the third chain from the hook. This way you can make any size you want! If this is not very clear, no problem, it will be obvious after reading and trying the pattern! If not, feel free to contact me with your questions!!!
Pattern
Chain62 Start crocheting dc in the third chain from the hook : dc 11 (so 1 dc in every chain), in the next chain you make : 1 double crochet + 1 chain + 1 double crochet (from now on shown as : X), dc 7, next X, next 20 dc, next X, next 7 dc, next X, next 11 dc. Chain 2 and turn. (please check around the neck of your girl to be sure it is wide enough.) Second row : Start to make dc in the first stitch and continu, make 12 dc, next X in the opening (the chain between the 2 dc of the previous row), next dc 9, next X, next dc 22, X, and dc 12. Chain 2 and turn. Third row : Start with a dc in the first stitch, continu making dc until the first opening (so the ch1space), in the opening make X, continu making dc until the next opening, next make X in the opening, continu dc until the next opening, make X in the opening, end the row with dc. Chain 2 and turn. Repeat third row until the back measures 35 cm. (for size 4 years) You will see that you increase stitches every row : you increase the front parts with 1 stitch every row and the arm-shoulder parts and the back part with 2 stitches. When the back is wide enough, so the part between the 2nd and 3th opening, the middle part, you will start separating the arms/shoulders. You do like this : Start dc in the first stitch and make dc until the first opening, make dc-dec in the first ch1space and the second ch1 space (so you just skip the entire arm-shoulder part), continu dc until the third opening, make dc-dec in the third and fourth ch1space (so just skip the second arm-shoulder part) and continu dc until end of row. Chain 2 and turn. From now on, you will just continu skipping the 2 armshoulder parts. Before starting the shell-lace pattern, increase a number of stitches. I did : (dc 5 stitches, make 2 dc in the next stitch), repeat until end of row. Important : for the lace pattern you need a number of stitches that can be divided by 6 + 5. (it is no problem if you end with another number of stitches, than you just correct it in the next row) Next row : Above the chain 2 at the end of the previous row you add 3 more chains, skip the first dc, in the next stitch you make : (3 tc-dec, + 1 chain + 3 tc-dec, + 1 chain), skip 2 stitches, in the next stitch you make 1 tc + 1 chain, skip 2 stitches, in the next stitch you make (3 tc-dec + 1 chain + 3 tc dec + 1 chain), skip 2 stitches, in the next stitch you make 1 tc + 1 chain, repeat until end of row and end with 1 tc. (if the number of stitches was not correct you just 'change' a bit, for example I skipped only 1 stitch (instead of 2) for 2 times under the arms to make my number of stitches right...Explanation of 3 tc-dec : Make a tc but skip the last part : so you do 2 x yarn over hook, pull in, yarn over, pull through, yarn over, pull through 2 loops, yarn over, pull through 2 loops. You do this 3 times, and at the end you do yarn over and pull through all the remaining loops) Chain 5 and turn. In the ch1 space between the tc's of the previous row you make : (3 tc-dec + 1 chain + 3 tc-dec + 1 chain), next you make a tc + 1 chain above the tc of the previous row. Repeat until end of row. Repeat this last row until your work is long enough. I made the last row in fuchsia, to obtain a nice colourful accent! Finishing the neck part : with right side facing, make 1 row of single crochet in fuchsia. For the second row I used crab stitch. Finishing the sleeves : I did the same as for the neck : But in rounds now : 1 round of sc and 1 round of crab stitch. Weave in all ends. Sew on a few nice buttons and ready!!!!!!
