GRANDMOTHER'S FAVORITE RECTANGULAr DISHCLOTH
This pattern is based on the popular Grandmother's Favorite Dishcloth pattern (designer unknown), but adapted to be rectangular instead of square. You can use any yarn (1o0% cotton worsted weight, such as Sugar'n Cream or Peaches and Creme, is the standard for Grandmother's Favorite Dishcloth but anything will work) and make the finished object any desired dimension. Amount of yarn used will depend on size made.
Supplies needed
Yarn - cotton worsted weight, or other as desired Needles - US 6 (4.0mm) or Us 7 (4.5mm) or appropriate size for the yarn Removable stitch marker - one locking stitch marker, safety pin, paper clip, or similar

K - knit K2tog - knit two stitches together YO - yarn over
Instructions
Cast on 4 stitches.
Section A
Row 1: K 4 Row 2: K 2, YO, K to end of row (increase row) Repeat row 2 until the distance from cast-on point along the edge of the work to the live stitches is the length you want for the short edge. (See schematic above.) Place a removable stitch marker in the first stitch of the row to mark the corner.
Section B
Row 3: K 1, K2tog, YO, K2tog, K to end of row (decrease row) Row 4: K 2, YO, K to end of row (increase row) Repeat rows 3 and 4 until the long side is the desired length. Rows that start on the edge with the stitch marker will always be increase rows, and rows that start at the opposite end will always be decreaserows.
Section C
Row 5: K 1, K2tog, YO, K2tog, K to end of row Repeat row 5 until there are 4 stitches left Bind off.
