Springtime Best Buds Hat Knitting Pattern with Minimal Cabling and Bobbles

Minimal cabling and a few bobbles add just enough detail and dimension to keep this very simple purled hat design interesting. Let's celebrate the spring season while wearing the Best Buds hat.

Gauge:

22 sts x 28-30 rows = 4 in/10cm in stockinette stitch using US 4 & US 6 needle or size needed to obtain gauge. Supplies: 200 yards of DK weight yarn (Sample knit with 1 skein of Madelinetosh Tosh DK in Moorland.) Size US 4 & 6 circular (16 in) and DPNs/longer circular (magic loop) CableNeedle Darning Needle

Abbreviations:

CO: cast on BOR: beginning of round K: knit P: purl M1: make one stitch by inserting needle under bar between stitches, pick up and place on left needle and knit. PM: place marker ? (US 4) Insert place BOR marker and join for knitting in the round carefully without twisting stitches. Repeat K1, p1 ribbing for 1". Increase Round: K11, M1. Repeat 10 times for a total of 120 stitches. Switch to larger needle. Setup/Round 1: P70, PM, complete row 1 of chart, PM, P17. Round 2: P70, SM, complete row 2 of chart, SM, P17. Round 3-39: P70, SM, complete next row of chart, SM, P17. Next Round: Purl all stitches Continue to work previous round until desired length is reached. You can place the stitches on waste yarn and try on the hat as you go.

Crown Decreases

Round 1: P2tog, P3 (repeat 24 times) (96 stitches) Round 2, 4, 6, and 8: Purl all stitches Round 3: P2tog, P2 (repeat 24 times) (72 stitches) Round 5: P2tog, P1 (repeat 24 times) (48 stitches) Round 7: P2tog (repeat 24 times) (24 stitches) Round 9: P2tog (repeat 12 times) (12 stitches) Cut yarn at about 8-10" and string through the live stitches. Pull tight and weave in ends.
